Powell Media Release – Maleny Bridge Club has a full house of cards!

12 October 2018

Member for Glass House, Andrew Powell MP, is excited to share that the Maleny Bridge Club have scored another “coup” in the latest Round 95 of the Gambling Community Benefit Fund (GCBF).

Following the commencement of construction on their brand-new Clubhouse, the Club picked up $19,830 from the GCBF to install security screens.

“From their humble beginnings on the bottom floor of the Maleny RSL in 1984, the Bridge Club has certainly come a long way,” said Mr Powell.

“The Club boasts some 110 members and I’m proud to have such an active, successful and busy community organisation receiving funding of this nature. They make a little go a long, long way.”

Bridge is a partnership game requiring four players and is played with a standard deck of 52 playing cards. It is a game of wit and strategy as well as being a fantastic way to make new friends, hence the popularity of the Maleny Bridge Club. And they are always on the lookout for new members.

“The Bridge Club still have a few card tricks up their sleeves, as they plan to be up and running in the new Clubhouse by the end of the month” said Mr Powell.

Information on how to apply for a GCBF grant is available at http://www.justice.qld.gov.au/grants or by phoning 1800 633 619 during business hours.

Ends 12 October
