There are not many community groups who would knock back financial assistance to help them achieve better results or provide better facilities for their members and now a new funding grant offered by local member Andrew Powell, provides Glass House organisations with another option for much needed funds.
“I launched my new Local Heroes Grants in February and I was pleased to see what a great response we had from organisations within the electorate.
“I gladly gave away $1000 in total and will be doing that again another five times this year with the next round closing on Friday 15 April.
In February, Mr Powell provided funding assistance to the following four groups –
• Glasshouse Community Hall – to go towards planning the 100th birthday celebration of the community hall;
• Delaneys Creek Pony Club – to assist in the operations of their tuckshop;
• Smart Pup for Ella – Maleny – to assist in purchasing a Smart Pup for Prep student Ella
• Conondale State School P & C – to renew equipment in the school tuckshop.
“My Local Heroes Grants have been designed to capture those groups in Glass House who just need a little helping hand with resources for their canteen or maybe even some new equipment or a raffle prize.
“My intention is to dedicate funds six times a year to organisations from the four main regions of Glass House so hopefully this round, we will have some nominations come in from the Palmwoods and Eudlo area.
“The application process is really simple – I know how busy people are and I know that it is volunteers who end up doing jobs like this in their spare time after dinner has been served, lunches have been made and the kids have gone to bed.
