Parliament resumed for the year and it sure was a big one. We sat until 3am on Thursday morning debating the Labour Party Lockout Laws and did eventually see them passed, much to the LNP’s disappointment. Please see my speech in the Speech section of my website or on Facebook to see why I voted against the Labor Party’s laws.
Once back in the electorate on Friday I was kept very busy catching up with the recipients of grants in Round One of my Local Heroes Grants. I caught up with the hardworking volunteers from the Glasshouse Community Hall, two of the ladies from Conondale State School tuckshop and also the gorgeous Ella from Maleny State School who has waged a fundraising campaign so her family can purchase her a Smart Pup. On Sunday I also caught up with some of the members and their horses at the Delaneys Creek Pony Club to congratulate them on winning one of my grants.
Other local activities I attended last weekend include – the Elimbah State School leadership ceremony, a 40 year JP certificate presentation to Mr David Keir of Bellthorpe, call in to the Blackall Range Growers Market at Witta, a drop in to the Maleny Swimming Carnival to present a few awards and I also called in to congratulate the Landsborough Tennis Club on their recent Gambling Community Benefit Fund grant.
