A busy week in Glass House in between two sitting weeks. It was also National Volunteers Week and I held my annual Glass House Volunteer Awards which celebrates the volunteers that we have within Glass House. The rest of my week involved some of the following –
• A visit to AOM recipient Mr John Moran and his wife Margo in Beerburrum
•Several visits to homes in Glasshouse Mountains who experienced damage to their homes following the weather event on Friday 1 May
•Lunch at the Caboolture Historical Village to sample the thai food specials they have on a Tuesday and Wednesday – I also took the opportunity to present them with a $250 IGA Voucher to help replenish their tea and coffee supplies following the weather event on 1 May where they opened their doors until very late at night to accommodate people stranded due to the weather.
•Participated in the ‘Maleny says NO to Domestic Violence’ walk through Maleny, organised by the Maleny Neighbourhood Centre
•Dropped in on netball training with Tibros Netball group in Glasshouse to personally congratulate them on their recent funding grant.
•Attended the Maleny Show Ball where Emma Scott was named Princess and Jillian Green the Runner-Up
•Spent time at the Maleny Historical Society Pioneer Day
