Charity Cricket match a great success

140927-Two teamsBackyard cricket had never seen so many Politicians in one team until the annual match between my Celebrity XI and the Maleny Maulers at Aub Cork Oval in Maleny last Saturday. After hearing for years what a great time we have at this annual charity match, many of my colleagues were itching to get in on the action and be part of my 2014 team. Truth be told I think many of them were intrigued by the idea of playing cricket in their pyjamas (the team uniform) and may I say one team member even donned a ‘Onesie’ for the occasion. I am happy to report that we gave it our best shot but even a team full of Cabinet Ministers couldn’t beat the Magnificent Maleny Maulers. Well done to all of the Maulers and their Captain Simon Denver on a spectacular game – so much fun was had by players and spectators and at the end of the day that is what it is all about. Thanks to all of the people involved with organising the event, especially Gail Denver for your tireless commitment to making this game a huge success. Anyone who still wishes to make a donation to Lung Foundation Australia can do so by visiting www.lungfoundation.com.au.
