The 2014 Queensland Budget outlines the Government’s strong plan for a brighter future. Locally, Member for Glass House Andrew Powell MP was pleased to see funding in key areas including health, police, education, and transport and road infrastructure.
“The Newman Government is focused on frontline services with $695.5 million to deliver our vital public healthcare services. Residents of the Sunshine Coast will also benefit with $6.393 million allocated to additional beds at the Sunshine Coast Community Care Unit.
“Under the Great Results Guarantee local schools will see over $920,000 in funding aimed at boosting student literacy and numeracy outcomes that will benefit them now, and in the future.
“Child safety and disability services have been targeted for increased funding with support and services for the most vulnerable in our society.
Mr Powell said the Newman Government has a strong plan to revitalise frontline services and ensure that all Queenslanders have brighter future.
“This is a budget which carefully balances increases in education, health and community services spending, while not introducing or raising any new taxes or reducing services. The Newman Government is making significant progress in restoring the State’s finances, growing a four pillar economy, revitalising frontline services and funding infrastructure projects to create jobs,” Mr Powell concluded.
