Member for Glass House, Andrew Powell MP, is pleased to announce nominations have opened for the Speaker’s Queensland Inspiring Women Awards. The awards are held to celebrate International Women’s Day and the theme of this year’s awards is Women of Generosity.
Each Queensland electorate will have the opportunity to select a representative who demonstrates the hallmarks of a woman who generously serves others and Mr Powell is calling on Glass House residents to nominate an inspiring woman in their community.
“These awards are a great opportunity to publicly recognise and honour an inspirational woman,” Mr Powell said.
“Many of us would know women who work tirelessly in their community and who give of themselves in service to others. Whether their generosity is with their time or their skills, they invest into others and strengthen individuals and communities.”
A breakfast ceremony honouring the winners, chosen from all over Queensland, will be held in Parliament House on 7 March 2014. Mr Powell will be selecting one inspiring woman from the community nominations to join him at the awards breakfast.
“There are many deserving women in our community and I encourage everyone to take the time to recognise these women and nominate them,” Mr Powell said.
Nominations close on Friday 7 February. Forms can be obtained from Mr Powell’s website www.andrewpowell.com.au or by calling the office on 5435 2013.
