Powell Media Release – State Government and Energex deliver for Rural Firies (23 April 2013)

Member for Glass House, Andrew Powell was today represented at the handover of equipment to local Rural Fire Brigades by Federal Member for Longman, Wyatt Roy MP.

The equipment was presented by the Minister for Police and Community Safety, Jack Dempsey who visited the Mount Mee Rural Fire Station to officially handover the equipment to rural firefighters purchased through a $75,000 sponsorship with Energex.

“Energex’s generous sponsorship builds on the Newman Government’s commitment to providing our frontline staff and volunteers with the best resourcing and equipment possible.”

“The equipment delivered today will assist brigades here in the Caboolture shire, and more widely in the Greater Brisbane region as they work for residents.” Minister Dempsey said.

Member for Glass House, Andrew Powell said the $75,000 worth of equipment purchased through the partnership with Energex provided the necessary support to the electorate’s brigades and local residents.

“The new equipment delivered to local brigades includes generators, GPS and Kestrel Weather kits, which provide much needed resources for emergency responses.”

“I would also like to thank all the brigades and rural firefighters in the Glass House electorate for the hard work and support they provide to the community.” Mr Powell said.

Federal Member for Longman, Wyatt Roy attended the handover and saw the local value of the new equipment presented to local brigade members in the Longman electorate.

“The partnership between the Government and Energex has provided local brigades with increased emergency response capabilities in the Longman area.”

“The new equipment provided through Energex’s sponsorship will directly assist brigades in my electorate, including brigades from Toorbul, Narangba, and in Mount Mee.” 

“It was my pleasure to attend the ceremony alongside Minister Dempsey and meet local brigade members who will benefit from this new equipment.” Mr Roy said.
