Member for Glass House, Andrew Powell MP, is pleased to announce nominations have opened for the fourth annual Glass House Volunteer Awards.
National Volunteer week is this year being held from 13 to 19 May with many nationwide events being held to promote the contribution that volunteers make to communities throughout Australia.
Mr Powell will again be hosting his annual ceremony and afternoon tea to publicly recognise the efforts of hardworking volunteers in the Glass House community.
“The purpose of National Volunteer Week is so that communities can publicly celebrate and extend thanks to our volunteers for their ongoing involvement.
“Volunteers are the ones that make things tick over and are often the lifeblood of any community. They are the people serving at the sports ground canteen, making baked goods for the hospital markets and cleaning up national parkland.
“Their contribution to our community is often underestimated and an opportunity to recognise and acknowledge their efforts at an event like this will always have my support.
“Over 250 Glass House community groups have again been invited to submit a nomination to my award ceremony and I look forward to meeting them all and personally congratulating them on their efforts on behalf of our community.” Mr Powell stated.
Nominations close on Friday 5 April. Forms can be obtained from Mr Powell’s website www.andrewpowell.com.au or by calling the office on 5435 2013.
