Update on road surface on D’Aguilar Highway at Wamuran near Gamgee Road (November 2012)

I have had contact with concerned community members regarding the road surface along the D’Aguilar Highway near Gamgee Road at Wamuran.  I would like to assure the community that the safety of motorists is my number one priority.  As many of you have witnessed, there is a 2.25km section of the D’Aguilar Highway just west of Wamuran, between the Gamgee Road intersections, that has deteriorated and I am advised this is due to water being trapped in the road pavement.  ‘Rough Surface’ signage was erected recently to alert motorists of the deteriorated road conditions and provide advance warning that motorists should drive to the conditions.  This section of the D’Aguilar Highway has been placed on a priority list to resurface and repair the pavement.  I am advised that the Department of  Transport and Main Roads have been monitoring the road condition and will continue to identify and carry out pothole and emergent repairs when necessary until funding can be secured.
