Local schools in Glass House will share in an additional $115 million of funding under the LNP’s Building our Future Schools Fund, LNP Member for Glass House, Andrew Powell said.
Mr Powell said local schools are at the heart of our community but their infrastructure needs have been ignored by this tired 20 year Labor government.
“The LNP’s Building our Future Schools Fund will help reverse Labor’s neglect by investing inQueensland families and their futures,” Mr Powell said.
“The LNP want our schools to be properly resourced and will provide funding of $115 million for the first four years. This funding will build to $40 million in annual capital funding.
“We are committed to giving our children a better start and ensuring we deliver economic dividends for families from a strong four pillar economy.
Mr Powell said both government and non-government schools in Glass House will benefit from the LNP’s extra investment in our children’s future.
“The LNP is committed to supporting all schools, and our Building our Future Schools Fund will be allocated on a 25/75 basis to government and non-government schools.
“This funding is over and above our commitment to properly fund a strong state school system, which rightfully receive the vast majority of state capital funding.
Mr Powell said the LNP will also establish a Queensland Schools Plan Commission to make sure our local community schools receive the funding they need for expansion and to also identify the need for new schools.
“This investment will have flow on effects for entire communities as much of this infrastructure like multipurpose areas could be used as community hubs which may be available for services such as the LNP’s Mums and Bubs Service, and targeted health services including various specialist services,” Mr Powell said.
“The LNP will improve funding for our local schools to ensure our families share in the economic dividends of a strong four pillar economy,” Mr Powell said.
