Out and About in Glasshouse Mountains – June 2011

No doubt about it, this year’s Glasshouse Country Festival has been the best ever.  The Sustainability Expo was a huge success and a big thanks to Bob McLean who works tirelessly to get this day up and running.  I was honoured to be able to participate in the GMAN tree plant at the Page Street Bushland Reserve and also spend time at the open day for Bankfoot House.

I was also very fortunate to officially open the Beerwah Lions Art and Artisan Show during the festival and I was truly inspired by the displays and artwork by some of our local budding art enthusiasts.  To cap off a jam packed week in the Glasshouse region I was “Principal for a Day” at the Glasshouse Mountains State School.  While I was there I was able to officially present the school with a new Queensland Flag, take part in parade and also have morning tea with teachers and parents.  Thank you to the school and Principal Ms Somers for welcoming me so warmly.  Hats off to our principals, teachers and school administrators – they have such an important and often challenging job.
