“This campaign focuses on raising awareness of the risks that women face in their fight against heart disease.
“Some people might be shocked to learn that heart disease is the biggest killer of Australian women.
“It is amazing the amount of women that are unaware of this statistic – a lot of women think heart disease is primarily an issue for men.” Mr Powell said.
The Healthy Heart Challenge starts on Wednesday 1 June and the community is encouraged to wear red throughout the month of June to show their support.
“If you would like any more information on how to get involved in this campaign, or would like some recipes for healthy living and eating, visit website www.goredforwomen.org.au.” Mr Powell concluded.
