It was an emotional return to Parliament last week as Members were given the opportunity to speak on the natural disasters and the effects they had on their own electorates. It really put the enormity of the disasters into perspective seeing the toughest of Members brought to tears. We really have rallied together as a state and a nation and it makes me proud to be a Queenslander. I was also able to speak on the proposed Translink Timetable for the Sunshine Coast rail line and stress the need to keep the current timetable as is. So many commuters have contacted my office and signed the petition pleading with the Government to preserve the current timetable. I want to keep the pressure on the Government about this so I and Shadow Minister for Public Transport, Tracy Davis MP, are aiming to spend a “Day on the Trains”. I will keep you posted on the date either in my columns or here on my website. To see my full speech go to the Speech section on this website.
