I love Australia Day as it gives us the chance to reflect on what it means to be an Aussie and celebrate the achievements of people within our local community and our country. This year, especially in Queensland, we can all reflect on how the Australian spirit still manages to shine through even in adversity. I am so proud to be an Australian and I must say after seeing how we came together as a nation following the flood disaster, I am even prouder. This year I celebrated my Australia Day with the Palmwoods locals at their annual ceremony and then spent some time at the Caboolture Historical Village who kindly donated 10% of the takings from the day to the flood relief appeal. I also had the chance to be present when many Glass House locals picked up awards at Peter Slipper’s annual Fisher Australia Day celebrations. Well done to all recipients for your contribution to our community.
