As many of you are aware, the Department of Transport and Main Roads closed a section of this road due to a landslip in March. I recently directed a Question on Notice to the Minister asking for an update, the costs of the repairs to date and the timeframe in which the road will reopen. In his answer, the Minister has advised that due to the complex nature of the geology in the area, the investigations have been more extensive than first thought. The final design for works to rectify the slip is expected to be completed within the coming weeks. I will keep residents informed as more information becomes available. The Minister also advised that as at 11 June 2010, the Department has invested $142 656 in investigations and designs. The total cost for the repairs will not be known until the final design is confirmed.
